BEGINNERS WOKSHOP – LEVEL 1

Finest Alterations now offers clothing alteration training programs for beginners through to advanced levels.
If you are looking for employment in the clothing alteration industry or simply want to learn how to alter your own garments like a professional, then these programs are for you.
The value packed learning sessions focus on the individual needs of the participants, so we limit them to a maximum of four (4) students per session. You will receive personalised attention from our trained instructors and the freedom to learn at your own pace.
We offer three standard programs which, in many circumstances, can be adapted to meet individual needs.
Our Beginners program is for people who already have a basic knowledge of sewing and our friendly staff will teach you how to;
- Pin and Mark
- Hem trousers, with and without cuffs, skirts, blouses, tops and jeans
- Replace zippers, centred, lapped, invisible, fly front
- Repair rips and splits, pulled seams, tears, holes
- Mending and creative mending
- Sew buttons and buttonholes by machine
- Improve your Time Management and Record Keeping
The Beginners program is run over five (5) weekly sessions, generally in the evenings and the cost is $750.00 + GST
SKILL BUILDING – LEVEL 2
For those who already have the basic skills, we offer a Skill Building program where we will teach you to;
- Pin and Mark
- Conduct fittings for clients
- Take in and let out pants; centre and back
- Taper pants and jeans
- Take in dresses on sides or make darts and take up straps
- Adjust sleeve lengths on shirts, moving cuffs
- Make darts on shirts
- Improve your productivity through Time management
The Skill Building program is run over five (5) weekly sessions, generally in the evenings and the cost is $1,000.00 + GST
MASTER CLASS – LEVEL 3
For more experienced people, there is the Master Class; here we teach you to;
- Pin and Mark lined garments
- Make alterations to jackets, take in centre, back and sides, reduce shoulder length
- Shorten and lengthen jacket sleeves including sleeve vents.
- Fit and repair buttons and buttonholes
- Shorten the length of jackets; reproduce the original hem shape
- Take in lined dresses
- Lift dress shoulders, reshape the neckline and armholes
Master Class programs are held over five (5) weekly sessions, generally in the evenings and the cost is $1,500.00 + GST
